A little about me...

PhDbel - by Annabel Farnood

Welcome to my page!

My name is Annabel, I am a 3rd year PhD nursing student at the University of Glasgow. This is a blog I made to document my PhD journey. My goal is to write about the combination of every day PhD life mixed with normal life (and everything else).

I have been a registered nurse for over five years and am in love with my career! I feel lucky to be doing something I feel passionate about - which is what led me to explore both clinical and research aspects of nursing.

I currently work for two NHS health boards on the bank, one agency and one private health board, whilst doing my PhD. Previously, I worked as a full time staff nurse in Vascular surgery and Neurosurgery. I am also a registered nurse in Australia and spent just under a year working as a nurse in Sydney.

I studied Adult Nursing at Edinburgh Napier University and then pursued my MSc in Advancing Nursing Practice at the University of Edinburgh. Both of these degrees have guided me to where I am today.

Nursing has so many career paths and opportunities, and I want to promote to others how possible it is to further either academia or clinical practice, and still pursue everything else you want to do.

You can probably see, I have a big travel bug. A PhD is full on, but it is important to remain balanced and make sure you still have time for life.

Enjoy xx
